Washington : A US soldier has been arrested after police found firearms and bomb-making materials in his motel room, Xinhua reported.
Naser Abdo was arrested Wednesday. The 21-year-old American Muslim soldier was planning to attack the army base at Fort Hood in Texas, it said quoting US media reports Thursday.
Abdo had earlier refused to be deployed in Iraq. He had been missing from work prior to his arrest. He told the investigators that he was at the base to “get even”.
Fort Hood was the scene of a shooting rampage in 2009 that claimed 13 lives. US military psychiatrist Nidal Hasan opened fire on unarmed soldiers who were preparing for deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan Nov 5. More than 30 others were injured.
