Mumbai: The in-laws of a chartered accountant who jumped to death with her two minor children earlier this week have been booked, police said here Saturday.
“We have registered a complaint against the in-laws of Nidhi P. Gupta under various sections pertaining to harassment and torture, and instigation to suicide. We are taking further steps in the matter,” Dindoshi Police Station Senior Inspector Vinayak Kakade told IANS.
However, he declined to specify how many people were booked saying they were being interrogated and investigations are on.
After throwing down her six-year-old son Gaurav and three-year-old daughter Mahika, Nidhi, 30, jumped from the 19th floor of the 21-storied Sahyadri building in Malad suburb’s Govind Nagar Tuesday, which was celebrated as International Women’s Day. The trio died on the spot.
She had left behind a suicide note in which she mentioned that nobody was responsible for her extreme step, Kakade said.
Nidhi, along with her husband Pankaj, her father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, lived on the 9th floor of the same building.
The entire family was at home when the incident occurred around 8.30 a.m.
