New Delhi : The Congress said Monday that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s invitation to his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani for the cricket World Cup semifinal reflects a holistic approach to bilateral relations and New Delhi has never compromised on the issue of cross-border terrorism.
Party spokesman Manish Tewari told mediapersons here that Prime Minister’s overture does not mean any compromise on the issue of terrorism.
“India has certain expectations from Pakistan, particularly about (countering) terrorism and has never made any compromises on that,” he said.
Tewari said India has always been desirous of friendly relations with Pakistan.
“Notwithstanding setbacks, successive Indian administrations have made overtures to the authorities there, civilian or military. We have always been firm that there is a minimum requirement for normalisation of relations,” he said.
