Bhardwaj keeps Yeddyurappa waiting for yes to assembly session

By IANS,

Bangalore : May 18 (IANS) Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj Wednesday told Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to wait for a couple of days till the central government decides on his recommendation to dismiss the state government before he acts on the chief minister’s request to convene the assembly from June 2.

“The governor told us that he is expecting the central government decision in a day or two (on his dismissal recommendation) and asked us to wait,” Yeddyurappa told reporters after meeting Bhardwaj with a group of ministers to urge him to give the nod for the 10-day session from June 2.

“He told us he will give his decision as soon as he hears from the central government,” the chief minister said.

Yeddyurappa said: “We explained why holding the session early is needed, like the budget has to passed to implement various programmes. He heard us patiently and asked us to wait.”

Earlier Wednesday, Bhardwaj complimented Yeddyurappa for “hard work” but rejected BJP demands for his resignation for recommending the dismissal of the government.
