Kremlin appoints 200 new guards

Moscow : About 200 Kremlin guard recruits took the oath of allegiance at the WWII memorial hill in Moscow Saturday, a defence ministry spokesman said.

“About 200 recruits of the Russian honorary guards from the separate commandant regiment stationed in Moscow took part in the ceremony,” said Sergei Vlasov.

The 154th commandant regiment provides security at events involving the president, the prime minister and defence minister.

It also provides security at meetings with foreign state delegations and other high-level events. The honorary guard regiment was set up 55 years ago.
