Agartala : Kolkata-based GPT Healthcare Private Limited (GHPL) has set up a 205-bed multi-speciality hospital here in Tripura, the company said Saturday.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will Sunday inaugurate the hospital built at a cost of Rs.1 billion.
“The seven-storeyed hospital would also cater to the needs of the patients from neighbouring Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan besides the entire eastern and northeastern India,” GHPL managing director Om Tantia told reporters.
Ten percent seats would be reserved for poor people, Tantia said.
“With 26 ICU (intensive care units) and ICCU (intensive coronary care units) and eight state-of-the-art ultra modern operation theatres, the hospital has also set up a big dedicated captive Oxygen generation plant, considering the crisis of oxygen in the mountainous region during emergency needs,” Tantia said.
“Considering the northeastern region is a cancer prone zone, a global standard oncology unit has also been developed,” said Tantia, whose GHPL has set up an 85-bed hospital in Kolkata.
“Most modern medical technologies, equipment and machineries have been imported from the US’s GE Healthcare and commissioned in the hospital, first of its kind in the entire northeastern region,” Tantia said.
