Not against the Congress: Kejriwal

By IANS,

Lucknow : Anna Hazare’s close aide Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday said their anti-corruption movement was not against the Congress, and if the Jan Lokpal bill is passed in the winter session of parliament, they will ask people to vote for the party of their choice.

“We asked people not to vote for Congress as it rules at the centre and is in a position to pass the Lokpal bill.

“If they fail to do so, Annaji will come to you and ask you that Congress should not get a single vote in the next assembly elections,” he said at a rally here, speaking soon after an attempted attack on him.

Uttar Pradesh goes to the polls next year.

Taking a dig at the four main political parties in the state, Kejriwal said people have seen reign of Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party in the past 64 years.

He added that people of the state were aware of the various corruption scandals affecting the BSP government.

Team Anna had campaigned against Congress in the Hisar Lok Sabha by-poll, telling people the party was non-committal on passing the Lokpal bill.

The Congress finished third in the by-election.
