Istanbul : At least 27 Libyans have been arrested in Turkey’s largest city Istanbul for storming the Libyan consulate, Xinhua reported.
More than 200 Libyans stormed the building Friday.
The Libyans — who had come to Turkey for medical treatment — damaged computers, tables, documents and set fire inside the building, the report said.
They decided to occupy the consulate after their financial assistance from the Libyan government was cut off.
Police later brought the situation under control.
Many Libyans wounded in clashes between the National Transitional Council (NTC) forces and loyalists of slain leader Muammar Gaddafi were brought to Turkey for treatment last year.
