Lucknow: Rihai Mach, a city based organization has protested the “illegal house arrest” of journalists Iftikhar Gilani and Professor SAR Geelani in New Delhi. Both intellectuals from Kashmir were reported to be under house arrest in the wake of hanging of Afzal Guru.
Rihai Manch said that the house arrest incident suggest that Congress government think that every Kashmiri is a terrorist, even if they have been acquitted of all charges by the courts.
Rihai Manch spokesperson Shahnawaz Alam and Rajiv Yadav asked the government to clarify the reasons for keeping these two famous personalities confined to their homes even though they are not charged with anything.
Rihai Manch also termed Afzal Guru’s hanging a “political murder” by Congress to snatch Hindutva votes away from the BJP.
According to latest reports, both intellectuals have been released from house arrests.
