Fasih Mahmood files bail plea

New Delhi: Fasih Mahmood, alleged to be Indian Mujahideen member by investigating agency, has filed for bail from a Delhi court. He is an accused in several terror cases.

Fasih, 28, an engineer from Darbhanga in Bihar was arrested on May 13, 2012 allegedly from Abu Jubail, Saudi Arabia. His family had filed a Habeas corpus petition in the Supreme Court seeking information on his arrest.

He was in Saudi prison for few months as Saudi administration had denied extraditing him. Fasih was finally deported in October 22, last year

Fasih moved a bail application before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidya Parkash.

The application mentions that as the special cell of Delhi Police failed to file chargesheet within 90 days of his arrest, he is entitled to be released on statutory bail.

News agency PTI reported that the CMM has sent the application to the district and sessions judge to decide whether he has the power to entertain the case. This, the agency, reported has been done keeping in mind the confusion in the Israeli diplomat attack case.
