Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen celebrated its 55th revival anniversary on Saturday at its party headquarters Darulsalam Hyderabad.

Erstwhile Majlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen was banned by Indian Govt. in 1948 after Majlis which emerged as a de facto ruling party of Hyderabad refused to secede to Indian union and its foot soldiers Razakars (volunteers) went on to fight with Indian army to maintain autonomous status of Hyderabad state.

But in 1958 Majlis was again revived when Syed Qasim Razvi its president was released from jail and deported to Karachi. Before going to Pakistan Razvi made Majlis Shoura (executive) council member Waheduddin Owaisi as its new president.

Govt. of India didn’t take tough stance against MIM when party after its revival amended its constitution and objectives, and accepted Hyderabad as part of the Indian union.

Though MIM did not remain as strong as it was in 1940’s, but since its revival in 1958 MIM played a key role in building up self confidence among Hyderabadi Muslims whom suffered huge losses after Indian Military action or Operation Polo in 1948.

The 55th revival anniversary was a low key affair in view of the Dilsukhnagar twin bomb blasts. After hosting party flag, MIM president and Hyderabad M.P. Asaduddin Owaisi addressed huge gathering of party supporters.

Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts was echoed in his whole speech, describing the terror strike an attack on our country, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “People have lost their lives and many of those injured are still undergoing treatment in the hospitals. The government should ensure an impartial and professional probe. The families of martyrs and those injured in the blasts are poor and therefore, the government must extend all possible help to them.”

Asaduddin Owaisi also alleged that section of media and investigation agencies is trying to deviate the probe by giving communal color to the blasts. MIM president also condemned Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s statement that blast was orchestrated to avenge the hanging of Afzal Guru and Ajmal Kasab.

Mr. Owaisi also demanded State Govt. to handover the probe to NIA so a fair and impartial investigation in the blasts could take place.

Speaking briefly on MIM’s coming election political strategy, party president said MIM wants to establish a Muslim-OBC-and Dalit political alliance for next coming elections.

MIM second in command and legislative floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi was unable to attend the function due to his ill health. All the other MIM elected representatives including six MLA’s and Hyderabad Mayor was also present at the meeting.
