Power officials, police attacked during anti-theft drive

New Delhi : Officials of the electricity department and police personnel were attacked by an unruly mob here during an anti-power theft drive, police said Friday. The officials received minor injuries.

“An enforcement team of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and 15 police personnel were on anti-power theft drive at Najafgarh area Thursday afternoon when they were attacked,” police said.

The team was conducting a raid after getting complaints about power theft in the area.

The mob pelted stones at the team. BRPL’s senior manager Suraj Azad and a Delhi Police constable sustained injuries, officials said.

A case has been registered at Dwarka sector 23 police station. No one has so far been arrested.
