Miscreants pelt stones at Polipu Mosque in Udupi

Bengaluru: A group of miscreants threw stones and broke the glass panes of the minaret of the Polipu mosque at Kaup, Udupi in the early hours of Thursday, May 9.

The incident occurred at around 1.55 am, when the Maulvi and a few others were inside the mosque, the miscreants pelted stones causing damage to the minaret.

On receiving news from the community members, the police rushed to the spot, large crowds gathered in the morning and demanded a thorough probe.

Newly elected Congress MLA Vinayakumar Sorake, also visited the mosque and assured the community of strict action against the culprits.

This is the third such incident occurring in Udupi this week, on May 5 the day of election, beer bottle was thrown at the Uchila mosque, and on Tuesday May 7 stones were pelted at a house in Mallar.
