Aligarh: The Academic Council of the Aligarh Muslim University at its ordinary meeting today approved in principle the proposal for establishment of Faculty of International Studies with multiple departments of studies. The meeting of the Academic Council was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah.
The Academic Council has decided that the West Asian Studies will be designated as West Asian and North African Studies. Further, new Departments of Studies will be created and AMU will offer two years’ Master Degree in International Studies. These departments will be established in Chinese Studies and Foreign Languages’ studies. Five foreign languages – Chinese, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish will be taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Department of Foreign Languages’ Studies.
