Calicut, Kerala: An international Arabic Seminar is going to be held under ‘Annahda’, the leading Arabic Magazine published from Malappuram District, Kerala on 30th A month at Calicut University seminar complex. The event will discuss the theme of ‘Modern Arabic Literature on Spiritual Science from India and Arab World’ and aims to shed light over the rich treasure of spiritual literature in modern Arab world along with unveiling the contributions of Indian writers for the field.
The one-day program will provide a platform for dialogue and discussion between academics, researchers, graduates, scholars and practitioners on various aspects of the theme. Hasan El-Talib, the Ambassador of Sudan to India, will inaugurate the seminar and scholars from different universities of India and Arab world will present their research papers in the program. Luminary personalities from inside the country and abroad will exhilarate the event with their gracious presence.
Arabic Seminar is organized as a part of celebrating Annahda Magazine’s eighth year of successful publication. The magazine has started its publication since 17 August 2006 with the aim of popularizing Arabic language among Keralite society, spreading Islamic moral teachings in a global level and returning the Ummah to its glorious past. It was a giant leap in the literary sphere of Kerala. Henceforth Annahda has made great steps towards fulfilling its aims acquiring a wide acceptance among the readers, scholars and literary critics.
Panakkad Sayyid Munawar Ali Shihab Thangal, the eminent scholar and spiritual leader of Keralite Muslims, works as the Managing Director of the magazine, Dr. Bahauddin Muhammed Nadwi, member of International Union of Muslim Scholars and Vice Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University, as the Chief Adviser and Dr. N.A.M Abdul Qader, former HoD of Arabic Department in Calicut University, as the Chief Editor.
Spiritual literature is one which exposes the spiritual facets of Islam, termed as Tasawwuf, and plays a great role in disseminating the moral and ethical teachings of Sufi saints and orders among people. The Arab countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Morocco and United Arab Emirates, have a vast storage of such Sufi Arabic literature in both prose and verse. Tasawwuf is a notable area of Arabic literary works in Indian subcontinent also. The seminar on this theme is organized with an expectation of being kickoff for a wide and deep research on the treasure of Sufi Arabic literature all over the world.
