Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will be holding its 62nd Annual Convocation on October 16 at 11 am at the Athletics Ground of the University.
Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and Secretary General of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW) will deliver the convocation address as the chief guest.
Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil Parambath, Managing Director, VPS Healthcare, Abu Dhabi, UAE and Mr. Nadeem Akhtar Tarin, General Manager, Salman Al-Terais & Partners Limited Construction Company, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would confer upon doctoral degrees honoris causa.
More than 5000 degrees will be awarded to graduate, postgraduate pass outs and PhD holders. Besides this, more than 200 medals will also be distributed on this occasion, a release said here.
In the first convocation held on 28th December 1922, degrees were conferred on 75 graduates. The first convocation was presided over by its founder Chancellor Begum Sultan Jahan, ruler of Bhopal.
Dr Rahat Abrar, AMU PRO further said, the Computer Center of the AMU will relay the live webcast of the 62nd annual University Convocation and Sir Syed Day. Dr Parvez Mehmood Khan, director, Computer Center, informed that an exclusive web page has been dedicated for this purpose (http:/www.amu.ac.in/convocation). The webcast of convocation proceedings will start at 11 am on October 16, the release said.
