Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University is holding its annual convocation on October 16, a day before the traditional commemorative meeting to be held on October 17 on the birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, founder of the University. It was decided in a consultative meeting held in the Conference Room of Administrative Block today. The meeting was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah.
The Aligarh Muslim University will confer its D. Lit. degree, honoris causa, to Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General, Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) &Secretary General of the Federation of Universities of the Islamic World, Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil Parambath, Managing Director, VPS Healthcare, Abu Dhabi, UAE and Mr. Nadeem Tarin, a distinguished AMU Alumnus and General Manager, Salman Al-Terais & Partners Limited Construction Company, Riyadh, KSA.
Emir of Sharjah, Sultan Bin Mohamed Al-Qasimi has been invited to grace the Sir Syed Day commemorative meeting as the Chief Guest. He will also deliver the Convocation Address.
Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali and Registrar, Group Captain Shahrukh Shamshad announced several committees to make arrangements for the two grand celebrations.
Mr. Yusuffali MA will lay the foundation stone of a Swimming Pool near the Hockey Ground. Foundation stone of a hostel for 125 students will also be laid on this occasion.
