RISE had started an ambitious talent search examination across the valley to identify talented students who do not possess the resources to pursue quality education. The examination primarily targeted the economically weaker sections of the society. Almost 10,000 students had taken the test in over 40 schools across Kashmir.

“We had invited approximately 700 talented students from classes 10th, 11th and 12th, who were identified through Rise Talent Search Examination (RTSE).We had invited students to participate in the second round of the talent search which would decide the overall Kashmir region toppers. The second round of the test was followed by counselling sessions. The aim of these sessions was to make these students aware of the educational opportunities that lie ahead of them, and how to chase them,” said Mubeen Masudi, founder RISE.

The counsellors included successful people from various fields from Media, Medicine, Law, and Finance to Civil Services and Engineering.

Raheel Khursheed, news and politics head at Twitter, India, held a 20 minutes interactive session with the science students explaining them the career opportunities lying ahead in their future.

Dr. Rumana Masudi, J&K, Common Entrance Exam Topper, 2006, interacted with students, who aspire to become doctors in future, and advised on how to successfully prepare for JKCET in the short term and work towards becoming a good healthcare professional in the long term.

The students of commerce got a rare opportunity to interact with Mubashir Malik, who is one of the only 3 Kashmiri students to qualify as Chartered Accountant Exam, 2014. The sessions for engineering aspirants were conducted by IIT Alumni, and besides, they also got a chance to interact with engineering students at NIT Srinagar itself.

“There is an information gap when it comes to our students. Most of the students lack basic awareness about the various educational opportunities they can avail. The primary aim of these sessions was to bridge that gap. Most of these students are talented and sincere, but they lack vision primarily because of lack of adequate guidance,” says Imbesat Ahmad one of the cofounders of RISE.
