Patna : After rampant and widespread cheating in Bihar’s board examination hit the headlines, 182 aspirants were arrested in the Bihar capital in last four days for impersonating and using fake certificates for recruitment of constables, police said on Friday.
“We have arrested 182 youths on charge of impersonation and using fake certificates for recruitment of police constables since Tuesday,” district police officer Ramakant Prasad said.
Prasad said that police have also seized documents from those arrested.
The youths were arrested when they came for the physical test with fake matriculation certificates.
According to him, the preliminary investigation into the case revealed that the arrested youths were hired by other aspirants for appearing in physical test.
“All the arrested were produced in the local court and sent to jail,” he said.
Last year the state government had initiated the process for recruitment of 11,783 constables. Bihar Central Selection Board for Constables (CSBC) had conducted written exams at various centres. About 52,000 candidates were selected for the screening of documents conducted at the Patliputra sports complex in Patna.
