New Delhi : The Delhi government has proposed the names of three retired judges for the post of Lokayukta in the national capital, a government official said on Friday.
“The government has proposed the names of retired Orissa High Court chief justice Bilal Nazki, retired Punjab and Haryana High Court justice Jasbir Singh and retired Delhi High Court judge Reva Khetrapal,” the official told IANS.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has called a meeting of the Delhi High Court Chief Justice G. Rohini, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta on the issue on October 20, the official said.
Kejriwal earlier wrote to Jung, requesting him to convene the meeting to finalise the name, the official added.
The Lokayukta’s post has been lying vacant since November 2013. The Aam Aadmi Party government was under fire from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress for the delay in the appointment of the Lokayukta.
The official said that the chief justice or the opposition leader could recommend changes or suggest a different name for the post of Lokayukta.
