TCN News

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given the green signal for 16% reservation in education and employment to the Marathas causing unrest among the Muslims who have also been hoping for some reservations considering their backwardness.

The Jamiat Ulema Maharashtra called for protests all over the state to organize a dharna and demand for their rights.

A protest was organsied in Malegaon city district Nashik yesterday, 23rd November, at Shaheedo Ki Yadgar, Qidwai Road between 2.30 to 5.30. Jamiat Ulma Malegaon, Kul Jamiti Janjeem, Muslim Personal Law Board, Muslim Kranti Morcha, Muslim Reservation Federation, Association of Muslim Professional and other organizations joined the protest.

Aziz Ejaz, President of Muslim Kranti Morcha said it is an injustice to the Muslim community by Maharashtra government. The 16% reservation for Marathas is welcome but 5% reservation must also be given for the minorities. If the government will not take any action then this protest will transform into a movement.

It is important to recall that recommendations for reservations for Muslims by Dr. Mahmoodur Rahman committee, Ranganath Commission and Sachar Committee have been  deliberately side lined.

The Maharashtra Muslims have demanded for 5% reservations in education and employment and immediate implementation of the above mentioned committees in the interests of Muslims, reservation in government jobs, punishment to the persons who have been lynching Muslims in the name of ‘gau raksha’ and measures to ensure safety of Muslims.
