RSS launches help center for Muslim women in Hyderabad

TCN News

Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), which is an arm of the RSS, opened its first family counselling centre in South India at Afzalgunj, Hyderabad. Other counselling centres run by the RSS for Muslims are in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

This centre in Hyderabad was inaugurated on Friday by Reshma Hussain, national convener of MRM’s women’s wing.

Also known as ‘Parivar Sulah Kendra’, these centers aim at settling family disputes of Muslims related to marriage, divorce, and sharing of property. They are supposed to be the alternative to the local mosques and sharia courts the concept of which was mooted by All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB).

Each centre will have a panel comprising former policemen, lawyers, women’s rights activists, religious leaders and social activists.

The opening of the parivar sulah Kendra in Hyderabad on Friday just a day after the Triple Talaq bill is passed in the Lok Sabha is also seen as a move to win the confidence of the Muslims as the Municipal elections are to be held after a few months. The BJP may well be hoping to gain the trust of Muslims for the next general elections of 2024.
