Beirut : The UN Secretary-General’s new special coordinator for Lebanon Michael Williams has arrived here.
Williams will be responsible for coordinating the UN work with the government in Lebanon and will be responsible for UN’s politicial activities in the country in line with UN resolutin 1701, a statement by the UN office said Sunday.
The Beirut-based Williams will verify the tasks of the UN work in Lebanon, it said.
Williams has been Britain’s special Middle East representative since August 2007 before assuming his UN post.
