Khalid Meshaal, addressing a three-day conference on Jerusalem which kicked off Sunday,
said he was upbeat about the outcome of the Cairo-hosted inter-Palestinian dialogue meetings.

A consensual formula has been reached on the formation of a neutral national government, and rebuilding of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) pursuant to specific mechanisms that could, later, set grounds for reconciliation among diverse Palestinian factions, he said.

However, he called for freeing all political detainees who were arrested in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip over recent months, halting of mutual media onslaughts and providing a congenial atmosphere for Palestinian reconciliation.

Meshaal called for more Arab and Muslim support for the defenceless Palestinian people so that they could continue with their struggle and steadfastness.

He condemned Israeli atrocities in the occupied Palestinian territories and digging works at the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The three-day Sixth Jerusalem Conference is being held under the aegis of Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

A constellation of Arab, Muslim and Palestinian scholars, intellectuals, media leaders, thinkers, politicians, economists and businessmen are taking part in the event.
