Berlin : At least one German citizen was killed and several others were wounded during the multiple terrorist attacks in the Indian city of Mumbai, a spokeswoman for the German Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
The number of German victims in the Mumbai terror assault is expected to rise as the situation at the location of the attacks remains unclear, she added.
The online site of Der Spiegel news magazine quoted unofficial sources as saying several Germans were among the dead in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel phoned Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earlier in the day to voice shock at the devastating terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
The German government condemned also the Mumbai terrorist actions in the “strongest possible terms.”
German airliner Lufthansa cancelled all its flights to Mumbai as a result of the terror attacks.
