New Delhi : Strongly condemning the dastardly terror attacks which took place in India’s business capital, Mumbai Wednesday night leading to the loss of many precious lives and injuries to many others, Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh Thursday said, “The well-planned and well-orchestrated attacks, probably with external linkages, were intended to create a sense of panic, by choosing high profile targets and indiscriminately killing foreigners”.
Blaming elements outside the country for the terror strikes in Mumbai, Dr. Singh has warned that India will not tolerate the use of territories of its neighbours for attacks here.
Talking tough in an extraordinary address to the nation, he said, “It is evident that the group which carried out these attacks, based outside the country, had come with the single minded determination to create havoc in the commercial capital of the country.”
The Indian prime minister also saluted the courage and patriotism of the police officers, including the Chief of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), Hemant Karkare and men who have laid down their lives in fighting these terrorists.
Dr. Singh also appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony so that the enemies of India do not succeed in their nefarious designs.
More than 100 people including 5 top police officials and 6 constables were killed and more than 300 injured in the terror attacks in Mumbai Wednesday night.
