New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Friday ordered an insurance firm to give compensation worth Rs.two million to the family of a man who died in 1996 when his car collided into a wrongly parked car.
Justice V.B. Gupta asked New India Insurance Company to compensate the family of Jagdish Singh, a former employee of Maruti Udyog Ltd, with Rs.two million.
Singh met with an accident in December 1996 while he was returning home when his car collided with another vehicle parked wrongly on the road.
Jagdish is survived by his wife, two daughters and aged parents who moved court claiming compensation, stating that the car was wrongly parked on the road.
Moreover, the car’s indicator had not been turned on due to which Singh could not spot it in time to avert it.
