While a call FRiday afternoon said that a bomb had been placed in Nehru Place, a warning in the evening created panic at Liberty Cinema in New Rohtak Road, the police said.

“Both the calls were declared hoaxes after extensive searches were carried out. The first call was received at around 12.30 p.m. that a bomb is planted in Hemkunt Towers at Nehru Place,” a police official said.

The police immediately reached the spot along with a bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs.

“The area was evacuated and after a one-hour search the call was declared hoax as nothing was found,” the official said.

In the second incident, the police received a call around 5 p.m. that there was a bomb at Liberty Cinema.

“We stopped the show that was running for an hour to conduct the search. The area was cordoned off and an extensive search was carried out. But when nothing was found, it was declared hoax,” the police officer said.

Investigations are under way and the police are trying to find out who made the calls and from where. POlice sources, however, said that both calls had been made from public telephone booths.
