Two days ‘3rd World Kashmiri Pandit Conference’ commences

Jammu : Two days 3rd World Kashmiri Pandit Conference commenced today at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium where various Kashmiri Pandit’s (KP’s) living across the country were present.

In the beginning of the conference a two minutes silence was observed in respect of martyrs of the exodus in the Valley, victims of Hotel Taj Mumbai and the Amarnath land row.

The first session which started today at 9 am was addressed by Maa Nirmala Ji Pandit, Sant Mehar Singh Ji, Swami Pran Nath Bhat Ji, Swami Kumar Ji, Pandit Omkar Nath Shastri, Pandit Amarnath Ji Vashnavi and Dr. N.N Dhar, President Kashmiri Samiti Delhi were the guests.

The participants were delighted when Naina Saproo recited the Sanskrit translation of Laleshwari Shlokhas (Lal Vakh) on the occasion.

On the occasion a painting series of Gokul Daimbay who had made the paintings of the three famous heroes of KP’s Pandit Shreya Bhat, Kripa Ram Dutt and Pandit Birbal Dhar and audio cassettes of Kashmiri songs produced by J.K.Koul Bezan and Asha Zaroor and Panun Kashmir Calander were released.

Besides audio cassettes of Kashmiri songs and a book based on KP’s exile were released by Krishan Ji Langoo and Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai respectively.

A famous film actor Anupam Kher, Chandan Mitra, MP, Prakash Singh, Former Director General BSF, Vivek Kumar, Educationist and Rajkumar Tyagi were present in the second session of the conference

Anupam Kher said that time to talk has passed away it is the time to do something now only talks cannot solve such a big issue.

He said that it is very important for KP’s to stand united and come together.

“We are incapable of picking up guns but we have brains to achieve success” Kher added.

“Jammu has proved our adapted motherland as it absorbed lakhs of KP’s in its lap” he expressed his gratitude to Jammu.

Dr. Agnishekhar, Convener Panun Kashmir expressed gratitude towards the Jammuites and said that Jammuites have proved very helpful and cooperative to the KP’s after the exodus.

Understanding the pain of being refugee Dr. Agnishekhar said that the West PoK refugees should also be given relief by the government.

Chandan Mitra assured KP’s that he will take their issue in the Parliament while Vivek Kumar lambasted the Indian Government and said that the government never took the exodus of KP’s seriously.
