Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Police shot dead a wanted criminal in Gomtinagar locality of this city early Wednesday morning, officials said.
The criminal, Chandrapal, was carrying cash worth Rs.35,000. He was killed in an ambush at around 5 a.m., officials said.
“He was on a bike when we tried to intercept him. However, he opened fire at the police team and was killed when we fired in retaliation,” inspector Vinay Gautam of Gomtinagar police station told IANS.
Over a dozen cases, including those of murder and kidnapping have been lodged against Chandrapal, Gautam said.
