Congress defends its media policy

By IANS,

New Delhi : The Congress Wednesday defended its decision to ask office-bearers to speak only on subjects concerning them.

“These are the norms of the party,” Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi told IANS.

Dwivedi, who heads the party’s media department, Monday sent a communication to office-bearers asking them to speak to journalists only on subjects concerning their areas of responsibility.

The communication came days after general secretary Digvijay Singh defended his earlier criticism of Home Minister P. Chidambaram over the government’s anti-Maoist campaign.
