Panaji : Goans are in no way involved in providing escort services, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said Wednesday after the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that Goa was fast emerging as a sex destination.

Referring to the hundreds of newspaper and online references offering escort and sexual services in Goa, BJP leader Damodar Naik said in the assembly that the image of the state as a clean tourism destination was being maligned.

“The people running such open rackets should be arrested immediately. They are supplying young girls and college students as escorts and for sexual services,” Naik said during zero hour.

He read out names and telephone numbers published in the advertisements.

Responding to accusations of police inaction, Chief Minister Kamat said a probe by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) revealed that most advertisements and phone numbers were traced to Mumbai.

“The CID inquiry has revealed that no Goans were involved,” he said.
