New Delhi : High prices of pulses, fruits and milk pushed up India’s annual food inflation higher to 11.47 percent for the week ended Aug 28 from 10.86 percent for the week before, official data released Friday showed.
The annual inflation rate for the primary articles groups also inched up higher to 15.4 percent from 15.19 percent, according to the data released by the commerce ministry. The inflation rate for fuels remained steady at 12.71 percent.
The following are the rise and fall in prices of some of the main commodities that form the sub-index for food articles over the past 52 weeks:
Cereals: 5.07 percent
Rice: 4.74 percent
Wheat: 7.04 percent
Pulses: 13.44 percent
Vegetables: (-)9.38 percent
Fruits: 10.34 percent
Milk: 17.60 percent
Potatoes: (-)50.44 percent
Onions: (-)10.32 percent
