Ahmedabad : Over 30,000 tourists visited the month-long Rannotsav which was held in Gujarat’s Kutch district and the festival generated business worth around Rs.10 crore, state tourism minister Jaynarayan Vyas said here Wednesday.
“The Rannotsav marks a qualitative transformation due to the benefits accruing out of a tourism event,” he said.
According to the minister, less than a thousand people had visited the festival three years ago.
“The festival which was a three-day affair three years ago is now a month long affair,” he said.
He said that the highlights of the Rannotsav were the Kutch carnival, the tented village at Dhordo which was completely booked for the entire period, water sports at Mandvi beach and the cultural programme.
“Another highlight was that helicopter service for ferrying people to places of tourist interest within Kutch was taken by over 300 people,” he added.
