Kolkata : Mohun Bagan won the Kolkata Premier League (KPL) unbeaten for the 11th time defeating Mohameddan Sporting 1-0, as East Bengal slumped to a miserable draw against Chirag United Sunday.
Mohun Bagan won the title for the 27th time when Laqlampuian netted the only goal of the match in the 87th minute.
Playing an ordinary game, both sides looked like heading for a draw when Lalampiun scored against the run of the play.
In the other match East Bengal had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Chirag United.
Rahim Nabi gave Bengal the lead in the 15th minute, but Chirag came back strongly scoring in the 44th minute through Shankar Oraw and then Theo doubled their tally in the 62nd minute.
Ashim Biswas found the equaliser for Bengal in the dying minutes to restore some pride.
Mohun Bagan totalled 36 points, while East Bengal tallied 26 points.
