In Chennai Saturday, Advani and Modi may meet Jayalalithaa

By IANS,

Chennai: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and BJP senior leader L.K. Advani are to arrive in Chennai Saturday to attend a function, and political circles are rife with speculation that they may call on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa.

However, there is no official confirmation of Jayalalithaa meeting both or any one of the visiting BJP leaders, who are to participate in the 42nd anniversary of the Tamil weekly magazine Tughlaq.

According to BJP officials, Modi’s meeting with Jayalalithaa may take place as both have good rapport.

Modi had come to attend the swearing-in of Jayalalithaa as the chief minister last May and she in turn deputed her party leaders to be present when Modi went on his Sadbhavana fast.

With the next Lok Sabha polls slated for 2014 and Jayalalithaa declaring at a party meet that the AIADMK will be in a position to decide the country’s next prime minister, the visit of BJP leaders has led to speculations that the two parties may be warming up to each other.

Modi is expected here Saturday afternoon. He will visit the residence of BJP leader Sukumaran Nambiar, who recently died, and later participate in a function.
