CBI books five National Museum officials

New Delhi : A case of corruption has been registered against the five officials of National Museum for illegally awarding contracts between 2002 to 2005, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Monday.

“The then director (C&A), two curators, a research officer, the then administrative officer of National Museum, New Delhi and a private person has been booked under provisions of Prevention of Corruption of Act and other sections,” said a CBI statement.

The probe agency said that the accsued have been booked for causing the government loss to the tune of Rs.73.81 lakh by illegally awarding contracts for handling, packaging and transportation of art objects/antiquities during the period.

Searches were conducted at seven places in Delhi and incriminating documents recovered, the statement said.
