Hyderabad : Four bogies of a stationary train were gutted in a fire at the Secunderabad railway station Monday, officials said.

The Narayanadri Express, which arrived from Tirupati, was moved to the railway yard after all passengers had alighted from the train.

Some people at a nearby cycle stand saw smoke emanating from one of the passenger cars and alerted the police. Flames engulfed the four bogies in no time.

Fire engines doused the flames after an hour-long struggle. The police said the cause of the fire was not known but they suspect it was the handiwork of anti-social elements.

Official of South Central Railway have ordered a probe. The loss is estimated at Rs.2.5 million.
