New York : Kelly Tilghman, an anchor with the Golf Channel, has apologised for a rather insensitive remark she made about Tiger Woods during the telecast of the Mercedes-Benz Championship last week.

Tilghman, who is the lead of the broadcast team with six-time Major champion, Nick Faldo, was joking about which young players could challenge Tiger Woods in the future. The pair was joking and Faldo suggested that the young players would have to gang up on Woods. Then Tilghman added, “Lynch him in a back alley.”

Tilghman immediately realised the gaffe and apologised during the broadcast on Sunday and she also expressed her regret to Woods, according to New York Newsday, which first reported the story.

Tilghman has in the past played professionally in Australia, Europe and Asia from 1992-96.
