Raipur : The security forces in Chhattisgarh killed a Maoist rebel in a gun battle early Wednesday, an official said.
The incident occurred during an operation in the forest under the Bhairamgarh police station in Bijapur district, some 485 km south of the state capital.
“The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the District Force (DF) gunned down the hardcore militant in an encounter. However, over a dozen of his associates managed to flee,” revealed Girdhari Nayak, Inspector General Police in charge of the state’s anti-Maoist operations.
Police recovered the arms abandoned the Maoists.
