Kannur (Kerala) : In another instance of increasing violent behaviour among school children, a student in a Kerala school Monday attacked his classmate with a knife, seriously injuring him.

Muhammed Siraj, a class 12 student, attacked his classmate Sebastian V.P. in a fit of rage with a knife at the NSS Higher Secondary School at Alakkode here.

“The motive for the attack is not known yet. We have to take a statement from Sebastian to know what exactly happened. Siraj says Sebastian used to abuse him and today (Monday) he had beaten him up in the morning,” a police official at Alakkode police station told IANS.

“When Siraj attacked Sebastian, other students stopped him. Otherwise, the consequences would have been serious,” said a teacher at the school, who preferred anonymity.

“We did not know that there existed a problem between the two. Other students, however, say there was animosity between the two,” she added.
