Tokyo : Japanese prime minister, Yasuo Fukoda called for a campaign of the world society to reduce emissions of contaminating gases.
Fukuda referred to the issue during the commencement of sessions of the Dieta (parliament) and marked it as one of the great objectives.
Japan is the country with the greatest energy efficiency in the world and, as such, the head of government was in favor of leading the struggle against climate change.
He also called for changes towards a society with low emissions of carbon dioxide.
The Prime Minister informed that he plans to designate 10 cities of his countries as models in the defense of the environment.
He explained that these localities are required to drastically reduce emissions of gases that cause the greenhouse effect.
He insisted that he was willing to create a financial mechanism to help developing nations to solve this problem.
