Mohammad Faisal Khan, the founder of human rights and peacekeeping organisation Khudai Khidmatgar, was awarded today with the Jansadbhawana Civil Society award for his relentless and unending efforts towards national integration and peace.
Faisal Khan, a Gandhian, is a grass-root activist attached with National Alliance for People’s Movement (NAPM). He has decided to revive the ‘Khudai Khidmatgar’ (Servants for God’s Creation), an idea which has at present caught the imagination of the entire country.
Khudai Khidmatgar was a movement started byKhan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, well known as Frontier Gandhi, in 1930s to fight British rule through Satyagraha (Non-Violent struggles). But when Badshah Khan’s message of peace and Non-Violence, was forgotten by Pathans, Muslims and India, Faisal Khan in 2009 decided to revive the movement by adapting it to today’s Indian context.
On January 20, 2011, on the occasion of Frontier Gandhi’s 23rd death anniversary, fifty volunteers under the leadership of Faisal Khan, took the initiative of reviving Khudai Khidmatgar, by taking the oath to serve the humanity without seeking any worldly desire.
In past years, Khudai Khidmatgar has played an extremely important role in promoting communal harmony.
The organisation has also worked for peacekeeping and rehabilitation practices in various fields and cases.
More recently, Khudai Khidmatgar made an important contribution towards women empowerment in the region of Mewat, Haryana by starting a vocational centre on March 15, 2017.
Faisal Khan was also awarded with the ‘Twocircles.net Person of the Year award’ in 2011.
