Jaipur : People of Rajasthan woke up to a cold and chilly Friday as the minimum temperatures across the state dipped well below normal. Mount Abu, the only hill town in the desert state, was sub-zero at a minimum of -1 degree Celsius.
The state capital also experienced unusually cold weather, mercury touching a minimum of 7.6 degrees Celsius as the cold northwesterly winds lashed the state.
“The cold wave conditions would prevail in the state in next 24 hours (till Saturday). The day-time temperatures in some of the places might fall,” a metrological department official said.
Roads in majority of the towns in the state wore a deserted look after sundown and the government erected makeshift shelters for the pavement dwellers at many places.
Bikaner had a minimum of four degrees Celsius, while Jaisalmer had 3.7 degrees Celsius. Most parts of the state witnessed temperatures around 3-4 degrees Celsius.
