Kannur (Kerala) : The Income Tax authorities here seized Rs.9 million from a private bus plying on Bangalore-Kozhikode route Friday. Eight people have been taken into custody.
The officials seized the cash at Thalassery, about 20 km from Kannur, when people in the bus carrying the money could not produce proper documents. IT officials felt the money was unaccounted for.
Kannur is 550 km north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram.
The arrested have been taken to income tax commissioner’s office at Kozhikode.They told the officials that the money was the proceeds from sale of gold in Bangalore.
The income tax officials declined to give further details.
