The relief could be in the form of reimbursement of – or a cut in – certain levies exporters pay the government, he said at a meeting organised by the Federation of Indian Exporters’ Organisations.

The government is also considering a cut in service tax on all services related to export, production and delivery. Exporters may be reimbursed the state levies such as Octroi to some extend, said the minister.

The US economic slowdown would not affect India’s robust growth, he stressed.

Kamal Nath told the exporters that the central government has started assessing the feasibility of an industrial corridor linking Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

Karnataka Industrial Development Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri told the meeting that several major Japanese companies like Toyota have shown interest in investments along such a corridor.
