Chandigarh : The 33rd National Sports Festival for Women has been shifted from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab due to the severe cold in the Kashmir valley.
The competitions will be held Feb 14-17 at the Surjit Hockey Stadium and sports school at Jalandhar, 150 km from here.
“All arrangements are being made to successfully conduct the sports festival at Jalandhar. Two hundred technical officials are being appointed to supervise the matches,” Punjab’s sports director Pargat Singh said Saturday.
The events will be basketball, gymnastics, hockey and kho-kho.
Jalandhar deputy commissioner A.S. Pannu said that arrangements were being made for the boarding and lodging and transportation of the players despite the short notice.
Women players from most states will be participating in the events.
