New Delhi: The Union government will soon establish an Arabic-Persian University in order to bring madrasas in the mainstream of the country, said Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary in New Delhi.
He expressed his views during a meeting with Ulema and representatives of Teachers Association of Islamic Madrasas on 29th February. A delegation of the association had demanded the establishment of a central Arabic-Persian university in order to approve the certificates issued to tens of thousands of students by Islamic madrasas. The delegation presented Congress president Sonia Gandhi with a memorandum, demanding permanent appointment of teachers of madrasas and maktabs run under madrasa modernization scheme.
