Muzaffarnagar: India cannot shine fully until its largest minority is included in economic development and progress, said Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna on 29th February.
Addressing a gathering here, she said there is no doubt that today Muslims have become victims of economic and educational backwardness on account of various reasons and this situation should be changed. Present Union government is very much serious about it and all attempts are being made to ensure Muslims also enjoy the country’s economic progress, she said.
She said Muslims have been playing their role in the progress of this country, and so they deserve their share of its fruit. She condemned victimization of an entire community on the pretext of terrorist attacks. She emphasized that fighting against terrorism is the duty of every Indian citizen. Can all Muslims of the county be accused of treason because of Mir Jafar? Can entire Hindu community be called murderer because Gandhiji was murdered by Nathu Ram? she questioned. Islam is the religion of peace and Islamic madrasas are fort of Islam and Islam cannot be held responsible for terrorism, she said.
