Ankara : Turkey and Cuba concluded the 8th Mixed Commission of Collaboration with the signature of several agreements that will strengthen bilateral relations even more.
The Cuban delegation was headed by Minister for Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation, Marta Lomas, meanwhile First Deputy Minister and also Minister of State, Cemil Cicek, participated representing Turkey.
After the meeting, Cuban diplomatic sources explained to Prensa Latina the scope of the agreements, which cover scientific-technical, power, education, cultural, sports aspects.
Members of the Caribbean mission described as successful the results obtained and expressed their satisfaction for the good development of the bilateral ties, considered an example of cooperation on the base of friendship, respect and mutual expression of independence.
On the other hand, Turkish First Vice Minister explained that his country grants a particular importance to Cuba as part of its approachment strategy to Latin America and the Caribbean.
Cicek celebrated the increase of the trade exchanges between both states, which reached last year $34 million dollars, and assured there are many opportunities of cooperation between both countries.
Cuban minister talked to the media on the foreign cooperation in her country and explained that the loan of 10 million euros, granted by EXIM Bank of Turkey, will be destined to renovation of dams, irrigation works and the energy sector.
In addition, Lomas expressed her firm belief that there is political will between the two nations to sign a new contract for an amount of 15 million euros.
During her stay in Turkey, the Cuban Minister sustained contacts with Ministers and authorities and exchanged information on the economic and social situation in the island.
